East Turkistan Association of Canada held a peaceful candle vigil for the Urumchi fire victims in front of the Toronto Old City Hall. Many Uyghur people, including women and children, were brutally killed in a fire that erupted in a high-rise building in Urumchi on Nov. 24. People couldn’t escape because the building doors were locked and sealed due to China’s COVID restrictions. Many beautiful souls died as they were screaming for help and shouting “Open the Doors!”
